Personal Paging Alerter
Paging Alert is a personal alerting device for use by the Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The Paging Alerter is a radio receiver which vibrates when a message is received.
At Work
The Paging Alert system can be used to alert the user to everyday Public Address announcements and messages from colleagues.
Emergency Situation
When the Paging Alerter receives an emergency message the unit continues to vibrate and display the emergency message until the person is out of the range of the radio signal (for example outside of the building).
Throughout the emergency the Paging Alerter sounds a high pitch audible tone. This tone signals the location of the user in a situation where visability is poor.
Installation
How many transmitter devices required to provide radio signal throughout a building depends on the individual building. The system must be designed and installed correctly to ensure the radio transmitter provides signal to all areas, if this is not achieved the Paging Alert will fail to receive messages in some areas.
Important safety features
Not being able to switch off the vibrate function on a menu (as in the case with most pager devices).
Not being able to accidentally turn off the alerter. There are no on/off buttons or switches that could be accidentally operated.
The battery life will depend on the quantity of messages received. Typically the battery life is between one and three months. When the "battery low" message is indicated, the user has two days to change the battery before it is exhausted.
